Good, reliable health insurance costs what it costs. There’s not much competition. If you’re healthy and 40, it’s GOING to cost $ 400 a month, unless you want a $ 5,000 deductible.
You find it at your local agent’s office, where you have the rest of your insurance. Or you ask him for a referral to another local agency. Not all companies write in all states, and you don’t want your nearest in network emergency room to be 100 miles away.
With health insurance, you get what you pay for. If you buy a “health discount plan”, well, that’s NOT insurance. You’re buying a DISCOUNT, that providers do NOT have to accept.
In other words, if you find a “plan” significantly cheaper than the going rate, either you’re getting ripped off, or you’re not really buying insurance.

The best way to get insurance to cover weight loss surgery is to go to work for a company that offers group insurance.
If you are obese, you might have a hard time buying health insurance, and even if you do, you would have to have the policy for a year or two before it would pay for that.
There is a question on an application for individual health insurance policy, that asks a question something like this:
“Have you had any type of surgery recommended by your physician that has not yet been completed?”
If you answer “Yes”, they are not going to insure you.

BURLINGTON, VT Rep. Peter Welch on Tuesday called for legislation allowing young people to stay on their parents health insurance policies until the age of 27. At a press conference at the University of Vermonts Waterman Lounge in Burlington, Welch said that comprehensive health reform legislation should make coverage affordable and accessible for the nations largest group of uninsured people. In 2007, 13.2 million young people 30 percent of that age group were uninsured. Allowing young people to stay on the family health insurance plan will provide peace of mind to parents and affordable health care to young people, Welch said. As they leave high school or college, many young people find themselves unable or unwilling to buy health insurance leaving them at risk of serious illness or injury. This common sense legislation will save families money, reduce the risk of medical debt and keep people healthy. At the Burlington event, Welch outlined his support for the Young Adult Health Coverage Act (HR 2831), which Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi recently indicated would be incorporated into the final House version of comprehensive health reform legislation. Consumer Reports did a ranking of health insurance companies awhile ago, as did US News and World Report (I believe). Try their sites – although you might have to pay for access on the Consumer Reports site. Try these:
